Suffolk results
Tough class's today, we were in against mostly Charolais cattle that were 3 times the size of our lowlines, impossible to compare and very difficult to judge. We came third in the bull class, second in the cow and calf class to charolais, a Gloucester cow in third, third place with the younger cow to a british blue and lincoln red and the heifer took fourth. We then got third in the group of three. Young handlers class for Logan tomorrow.

DEVON COUNTY SHOW
Not sure where my posts and pictures have gone - will try and reload but for now we are home safe after 3 busy days at the show. We added a few rosettes to our collection. Charlotte made her showing debut very succesfully and we had lots of people very interested in the Lowline breed. Logan and one of the calves were interviewed by BBC southwest after they spotted him in the grand parade which someof you may have seen on friday evening - on saturday many of the public coming through the cattle lines recognised Logan from the tv !
We were showing against some very good (and large) sussex and galloway cattle. Results as follows:
Bull class - Langford Conker took 2nd place to a good Sussex bull
Calf class - Our 2 week old bull calf took 2nd place and 9 month old bull took 4th place. The judge was particularly taken with the little calf stating he was one to watch as he had excellent presence and style..... at only 2 weeks! he went on to be awarded a Reserve Special rosette. he was also a huge hit with the public in the cattle lines with everyone wanting a stroke.
Cow Class - Gracie took 4th and Sadie 5th place
Heifer Class - Wessex Angela took 6th place
Now to get all the white coats washed and ready to pack up again for Suffolk show on the 29th May

Busy times
It's busy busy at the moment what with calving plus we had a successful semen collection from conker our stock bull so this can be now added to our stock. It is also only a couple of weeks till the first show of the year - DEvon county so lots to be done to get everything show ready...
Calves galore
Calves are arriving on a daily basis at the moment, all trouble free and needed no intervention bar one which decided to come backwards and needed some assistance into the world but luckily David spotted the wrong feet coming out and was able to deliver a live healthy calf. We have had some lovely clear days and the weather is warming at last. I'm sure everything - livestock Nd humans are happy to feel the sun on their backs and some sunshine, it feels like such a long long time since we experienced it!
